Marian Muro was the General Director of Tourism of the Generalitat between 2011 and 2016, and as such promoted public-private collaboration, collaboration that resulted, among other measures, in the creation of the Tax on Stays in Tourist Establishments or the regularization of more than 290,000 places in housing for tourist use in the whole of Catalonia. She also promoted new products to de-seasonalize tourism and to diversify the markets of origin of the visitors. From 2016 to early 2020, she was the CEO of Grupo Julià, specialized in passenger transport and tourist services, and between 1996 and 2011 she was manager of the Catalan Association of Travel Agencies. Since March 1, 2020 she is the General Director of the Barcelona Tourism Consortium.
