Soledad Álvarez Martín has a degree in Information Sciences, Journalism branch, from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her entire professional career has been developed in EFE, most of it in national and international delegations. She joined the Agency in 1995 as editor of the Castilla-La Mancha Delegation, based in Toledo. She subsequently was a delegate in Cantabria from 2005 to the end of 2007. In January 2008 she moved to the International area with the appointment of her as a delegate in Bolivia. In the two years at the helm of the La Paz newsroom, she was in charge, among others, of the informative coverage of numerous electoral and consultative processes in Bolivia during the first years of Evo Morales' mandate, including his first reelection. She was a delegate in Havana from April 2010 to July 2016. During that period, she directed the coverage of events such as the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the Caribbean island and the United States, the visit of Barack Obama to Cuba or the peace process between the Government of Colombia and the FARC guerrillas (negotiation that had its headquarters in Havana), among others. As a delegate in Cuba, between 2014 and 2016 she combined that role with that of a correspondent for Televisión Española (TVE) on the island, by virtue of the collaboration agreement between the Agency and the Public Entity to take advantage of their resources abroad. In September 2016 she joined the EFE headquarters in Madrid, in the Television department as part of the international video coordination team. Since October 2018 she is part of the National area dedicated to the development of EFEDirecto, live narrations with multimedia support.
